THE COACH

I am not a coach who studied someone like you.

I am someone like you.

Welcome! I’m Cam, I am nearly three years sober and still doing the work. What got me here is the kind of darkness that most people only read about. Addiction, violence, suicide attempts, rock bottoms, plural. I approach coaching not from a position of having it all figured out, but from a place of real, ongoing commitment to understanding myself alongside my clients.

I am honest to a fault, sometimes uncomfortably so. I have been labelled a chronic over sharer, in fact. However, I will not tell you what you want to hear, but I will tell you what I actually think, and I will do it with care rather than judgement. I cannot be bullshitted, because I spent too long bullshitting myself. I know how to perform okayness and know what it looks like, because I too was performing. For twenty years.

I knows what it feels like to sit in the dark at midnight with no options, the specific shame of loving people and hurting them anyway. So when you sit across from me, you do not have to explain any of that. I already know, so together we’ll look forward.

I am not practicing on lived experience alone. I am training in positive psychology under Andy Ramage through AreteWay Coaching, I am trained alcohol performance coach, and I takes the science of wellbeing very seriously. With me, you have someone who understands the terrain from the inside and has the framework to help you navigate it.

Cam Springett, online sobriety and performance coach, walking toward the camera along a railway track in Ahangama, Sri Lanka, wearing sunglasses, a linen shirt, shorts and sandals, flanked by tall palm trees and tropical vegetation.

If you are sober and trying to figure out who you are now, or if you are ready to step through the doorway, I will be in your corner. I know what that costs and what it makes possible from the inside. I am not healed, not fixed, not recovered. I have a fresh hold on life and I knows how to help others find theirs too.

WHAT I BELIEVE

Three things that changed everything.

Dependency is almost never a moral failing.

It is almost always an identity gap, a space where a sense of self should be, filled in by something that works in the short term and costs everything in the long term. Understanding that changes everything, because identity can be built.

Thoughts are not facts.

Most of the damage comes from the ones that felt most true: the shame, the sense of being fundamentally different, the belief that everyone else had figured something out that you had somehow missed. They felt accurate. They were not.

Recovery support is mostly about stopping. This work is about starting.

What comes after the stopping is the most underserved and most important part of the whole conversation around addiction, and it is where I live and work.

The questionnaire is where it starts. Ten minutes, a free personalised clarity report, and if there is a good fit, your founding sessions are available at no cost in exchange for supervised accreditation hours. Spots are limited.
